Proton’s $1M Contribution for a Better Internet

This year’s Lifetime Account Charity Fundraiser, hosted by Proton, was a record-breaking success, raising over $1 million to support organizations advocating for privacy, freedom of expression, and human rights globally.

Since 2018, Proton has organized annual charity fundraisers, offering exclusive Lifetime Accounts to raise funds for internet causes. This year’s fundraiser exceeded expectations, bringing our total charity contributions over the last seven years to over $4 million.

2024 Fundraiser Achievements

The 2024 event generated $927,470 from over 90,000 tickets sold to 43,631 participants. Proton is contributing an additional $150,000, making the total donation $1,077,470. This accomplishment showcases the community’s power and our collective ability to create a better future.

Every ticket purchased represents more than a raffle entry; it symbolizes a commitment to a freer, more open world. The funds raised this year will support 10 key organizations selected by the Proton community, as well as others previously supported by Proton.

Impactful Contributions

Proton’s efforts have enabled the distribution of over $4 million globally to aligned organizations. Beyond financial donations, Proton offers free access to its services in regions threatened by privacy issues, supports open-source projects, and leads initiatives against online censorship.

Proton Innovation Fund

This year, Proton is also setting up a Proton Innovation Fund with a $200,000 allocation to support projects promoting online privacy, security, or freedom. Four $50,000 grants will be awarded, with an open call for applications later this year.
